Pakistani student qualifies for International Lions Peace Poster Contest
Myra Malik, grade-9 student of the Roots School System, Wednesday qualified for the International Lions Peace Poster Contest of the Lions Club International.
The Islamabad Movers and Shakers Campus Lions Club selected her entry of the poster to be submitted for the international competition. The Poster Contest may attract more than 350,000 entries by young artists on the theme of International peace from across the worldwide
A panel of judges selected Myra’s poster for its originality, artistic merit and portrayal of the contest theme ‘Children Know Peace’, at a ceremony held at the Roots Preparatory and High School in F-8/4, Islamabad.
Islamabad Movers and Shakers Campus Lions Club President Lion Raheela Naveed said she was impressed by the expression and creativity of the students at Roots School System. “It is obvious that these young people have strong ideas about what peace means to them. I’m so proud that we were able to provide them with the opportunity to share their visions”.
The winning posters from across the world will advance through the district, multiple district and international levels of competition if the poster is to be declared the international grand prize winner.
One International grand prize winner and 23 merit award winners will be selected in “International Peace Poster Contest”. The grand prize includes a cash award of US$2,500, plus a trip for the winner and two family members to an award ceremony at the Lions Day. The 23 merit award winners will each receive a certificate and a cash award of US$500.
“Our club is cheering for winners as their posters advances in the competition, and we hope that their vision will ultimately be shared with others around the world,” Lion Raheela Naveed said.
