Bees attack blocked motorists on M-2
Prime Minister directs to pay PSO Rs8 billion
As the nation is worst-hit-ever in the history of the menace with 12-18 hours of load-shedding being observed far and wide, the country-wide protests reach motorway on Monday.
According to details, the locals gathered on the motorway near Pinddadan Khan and blocked M-2 completely halting all sorts of traffic. The protestors chanted slogans against the unscheduled power outages that forced them to experience sleepless nights.
Despite all out efforts by the authorities and Motorway police, flow of traffic could not be resumed before a long delay of 5 hours. Miles long queues of vehicles were seen on the both sides of the road. The motorists and people travelling on motorway had to go through mental agony for a long time. But their worst miseries were yet to come.
Adding insult to the injury, the people stuck in the traffic jam were, all of a sudden, attacked by the honey bees making people get trapped within their vehicles. The people termed it as their worst experience on motorway ever.
To their great relief, however, the flow of traffic was resumed as the protestors -- having mercy on the plight of the poor travellers who were weather-struck and bee-bitten – agreed to clear the M-2 on assurances of the PEPCO official to decrease duration of load-shedding remarkably.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, heading the inter-ministerial meeting in Islamabad on Monday to discuss the situation of energy crisis prevailing in the country directed that PSO should be paid Rs8 billion till the evening. He also directed the PSO to ensure timely supply of fuel to production houses and Independent Power Producers (IPPs).
