SMS Mania takes hold of youngsters

Lot of time is being wasted on ‘bundle message’ packages

Today the science and technology has done wonders and provided us with such facilities and ease which we never had before. Now people can talk to near and dear ones thousands of miles away, including relatives and friends who cannot be met in person.

Now there is mushroom growth of the social activities like face book, twitter, flicker and many others as well but the menace which has gripped our youth severely is the mobile phone Short Message Service (SMS) obsession which is also increasing day by day and goes unchecked but our young generation is being destroyed from within and their moral, social, educational, financial and the most important the worthiness of time is also wasted in remaining idle while only chatting with others via free SMS package.

Our youth has provided with the thousands of SMS to be sent daily on cheap rates so they are seen busy all the time while talking with friends unnecessarily while wasting the time but no one is bothered to keep a check on them. Their parents are maddened with this social evil which is spreading and engulfing more youth towards it.

Various cell phone companies are also facilitating the bad activity of messaging through the day and night because they have provided them with the cheap service and every one can benefit from the opportunity. Now there are 10 billion users of mobile phone in Pakistan and it has now also become a vast and better mass media outlet because Television users are 8 billion, lesser than the former.

Muneer Qasim, a parent said while sharing the worries and grievances of this social evil, “Propaganda has now taken grip as well. Every day funny, propagandas, vulgar and strange message are mushrooming from one cell phone to millions of other.”

Kashif Saleem said that he looked at cell phone the time he got up from bed without praying.”

The western people have got even better services of cell phone, messaging and communication system and they have long been using it relevantly and for their needs and as facility. They utilize for special purpose like business and many other important works. But if we observer the same situation in Pakistan, people have taken it as a big blessing for vulgarity, fun, useless things and spend host of their crucial time while using it. They don’t care for time which is of utmost importance in this modern age.

Recently India has placed a ban on sending more than 100 SMS per day which is a very good move for their youth because they say in this way their youth will be a bit save from the miseries of wasting time. But here in our country youngster are having the mania of SMS and they get daily as much message package as they can but no ban or such type of thing can be seen.

It is a very serious social evil and need the attention of our policy makers, and the high ups so that our future generation could be stopped from the miseries while not allowing people to send more than 100 messages daily.
