Ten million left to suffer in child labour

Saving them is synonymous of saving our future generations

Child labour is a big problem in most third world countries, but possibly the most known among them is Pakistan. Ten million children in Pakistan are occupied for manual labour.

Jamil, 14 a boy who deserves to be admitted in the school and play in the grounds is a worker in a workshop. It is basically a tyre-repairing shop located in Dingkhi in Rawalpindi where he revamps wheals and tyres. He lives with his uncle along with his mother. His father passed away long ago. His mother is paralysed from her legs. His uncle himself is pitiable labourer and has a family due to which he can hardly afford to buy his mother’s medicines and treatment. His aunt also helps him as much as she can. But still is not enough to meet his day to day expenses, hence Jamil himself earns his livelihood. They somehow manage to live under one roof.

He lives in Rawalpindi in Habib Colony Westridge. He has been working in this shop with Ustad Basheer since the age of 11. He barely earns Rs 100 out of which Rs30-40 are spent on his travelling. There is hardly something left behind to fulfil their needs.

This innocent boy asks for help from the natives and the government to facilitate him with the basic needs as he desires to go to school and get educated. He says that if he can’t be assisted then he requests for free treatment of his mother as she is the only precious thing he is left with.

There are such ten million children out there among which more than fifty percent of them are going through tremendous hardships. Their life is getting miserable day by day. They are looking forward that the private organizations, members of civil society, government would come forward come to rescue. They should be provided with monthly fund, basic necessities of life, free education, a roof for shield, clothes to wear, Shoes not to walk bare foot on roads etc.

They must be sent to the school so they may be brought in a good environment to become a good human beings and useful citizens, failing which they might end up turning into criminals as a protest for being denied their rights. They might play in the hands of the terrorists to further their vested interest. In order to fulfil their needs they might choose the wrong path and resort to crimes involving violence.

In order to save our coming generations from the wrath of these desperate fellow citizens we have to wake up now and take some practical measures for them.
