‘Lok Mausiqi Ki Sham’ at PNCA:
Tufail Niazi Commemorated; Young Rohan ‘Carried the Night
Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) arranged a musical evening named‘Lok Mausiqi Ki Sham’ in memory of Legendary Folk Singer Tufail Niazi on Wednesday at PNCA Auditorium that continued till late night. Renowned singers who made the evening memorable included Javed Niazi, Qurban Niazi, Babar Niazi, Shehanshah Niazi, Saira Arshad, Muhammad Ali, Afshan Zaibi, Nadeem and Ms. Badar Sadaqat who captivated and mesmerized the audience from twin cities.
Touqeer Nasir, Director General of PNCA who was the chief guest on this occasion paid them a rich tribute when he said, “Folk singers are our heroes who portray our culture and civilization through their art; they introduce and represent their country all over the world by their folk songs and we are proud of them.”
‘Lok Mausiqi Ki Sham’ started at 7 pm and kept entertaining till 12:30 am. Punjabi and Urdu songs were sung and all participants performed their songs and spell bound the audience with their voices.
Ms Badar Sadaqat started the program by singing ‘Mola Ali Dhamal’ followed by Jhangir Niazi who sang ‘Mahi Way Tayray Waykhen Lai’ which thoroughly enthralled the audience. Then Awais Niazi sang “Ochiya Lambiya Taliyan” and Affi Bakhshi sang “Way Mai Jana Dhok Ranjhan De” that seemed to enliven the audience.
Award winner, Rohan Abbas also sang four songs on the occasion and took away hearts of the people in the Auditorium as they were seen clapping, hooting and swaying their bodies to cheer up the young artist.
