Students protest over prevalence of Money-Minting in ICMAP

The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMAP) has started issuing admission form this month and the last date for submission of form is 30 June, INFN has learnt.

The classes will commence on 11 July. The basic qualification required for admission is graduate i.e. B.Com, BSc, B.A, and B.B.A. The candidates who have appeared in the Final Examination of B.Com., BSc. and B.A., and are waiting for the declaration of result will be allowed to take the Entry Test. In case such candidate passes the Entry Test, he/she will be granted provisional admission. However, registration will be granted only when he/she clears the graduation examination an insider told INFN.

However, the result of graduation exam of most of the universities is going to be announced in August and the administration of ICMAP has made it clear that in case any of the students who are provisionally given admission, fails in the graduation exam will be expelled from university and his/her registration will not be cleared.

“The university’s first time admission fee is Rs 18,500 --which is a huge amount for Pakistani students -- will not be refunded and 100% of it will be confiscated.

The university has not made any rule for refund of any amount of fee. So the students are very much tense regarding this issue of none refund of fee in case they are not lucky enough through the graduation exam. This act amounts to debasing and looting the poor students by confiscating their money which they would be submitting at the time of admission. This is only an act of money minting and it seems that they are not running a university which is meant for giving education, knowledge and wisdom but they are running it like an industry which is very pathetic,” confided Muhammad Amir (name changed on request) a recently enrolled student of ACMA.

INFN tried to confirm this issue from the University administration by contacting them but the phone numbers were not attended despite repeated efforts. The website of ICMAP clearly confirmed the allegation as it states, ‘the fee once submitted will not be refunded in any case’
