Death hovering over residents of Karachi:

 

Friday witnesses more than 17 causalities;

86 killed in four consecutive days, 133 suspects arrested, weapons recovered

 

The recent wave of violence has entered the forth consecutive day with nearly 17 people have been gunned down on Friday in different areas of the city. Firing is continuing in different areas especially in Orangi Town and New Karachi.

 

MQM and PML (N) submitted a joint requisitioned for a special National Assembly session on the situation of Karachi.

 

MQM observed a mourning day in Sindh due to Karachi violence. Markets remained closed and there was no traffic on roads.

 

According to details of fresh cases of violence, a grenade attack reportedly happened in Beam Pura area where three men died and several were injured. MQM has also cancelled its rally which started from Press Club to Chief Minister (CM) secretariat said Wasay Jalil. Yesterday MQM Rabta Committee had declared the peaceful demonstration against the ongoing wave of violence.

 

Sharjeel Memon, Sindh’s Information Minister, said the Gov had ordered the security forces to ‘shoot on sight’ the armed men involved in the terrorist activities.

 

Rehman Malik, Interior Minister also reached Karachi and discussed the deteriorating condition of law and order. He said that the government would deploy the extra 1000 troops on the streets of Karachi.

 

“We are bringing 1000 more paramilitary troops to control the situation in Karachi,” Malik told media men.

 

The US ambassador to Pakistan, Cameron Munter, issued a statement saying that the embassy was “deeply concerned about the escalating violence. We call on all political parties of Pakistan to sit together and refrain from further violence.”

 

Karachi University and Sindh board cancelled the scheduled papers which were to be held on 8th July due to target killing and violence in Karachi.
