President warns Zulfiqar Mirza ‘to mend his ways’:
Mirza assures to ‘hold his tongue’
President Asif Ali Zardari met Zulfiqar Mirza at President House on Friday to show his displeasure over the recent controversial statements that led to massive protests throughout the country.
He warned Mirza that PPP and govt will not forgive him if he repeated this kind of statement. President further said all the people who migrated to Pakistan are Pakistanis and ‘our Muhajir brothers’ living in Sindh, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are Pakistanis and ‘sons of the soil’.
He said terrorism is the real threat of democracy and all democratic parties should come forward to eliminate terrorism and save democracy. PPP believes in policy of reconciliation and wants to take all parties on board.
Zulfiqar Mirza assured president that this kind of statement will not be repeated. Last night, President called MQM chairman Altaf Hussain and regretted over the statement of Mirza. He also told that statement of Mirza had no endorsement of Party but his personal opinion.
The party has already disowned the statement and called upon its rank and file to refrain from issuing controversial public statements.
