Spot Fixing Case:
Jury rejects the Pakistani cricketers appeal
The UK court has rejected the appeal of Pakistani cricketers requesting to end the corruption cases being heard after the closure of News of the World (NoW) that spied on the cricketers to collect evidences against them.
The court however, categorically rejected the appeal after hearing the defendants’ comments representing the cricketers included in the case i.e. Salman Butt, Muhammad Asif and Muhammad Amir.
The cricketers were being tried for fraud in spot-fixing scam during the matches. According to media reports the lawyers did not prosecute well that led the jury to decide against them.
Muhammad Asif and Muhammad Amir were present in the court during hearing along with their lawyers whereas Salman Butt attended the hearing through video-conferencing. He could not go to London due to visa problems. Court will start the proper hearing of the case from 4th of October, 2011.
