28 July:
152 souls restless despite lapse of one year;
Investigation Report of accident still to be made public;
Make Pakistani skies safer for future air travellers: ACAG
On 28 July 2010, the ill fated Airblue flight Ed 202 crashed in the Margalla Hills in Islamabad, killing all 152 passengers and crew members on board. Despite lapse of one year, investigation report of the accident has not yet been made public.
While the bereaved families have reconciled to the tragedy as an act of God, they demand their ‘right to know’ the cause(s) that took away their loved ones’ from them. They have formed a family association by the name of Airblue Crash Affectees Group (ACAG) which is campaigning to make
Pakistani skies safer for future air travellers, who knows who would be the next victim of the apathy of regulators and the carriers. “We appeal all human rights activists, civil society organizations and persons of conscience to please support us in our campaign,” said ACAG in a message.
To pay homage to the departed souls of flight Ed 202, ACAG has also organized a ‘Quran Khawani’ which will be followed by a press conference and a rally on the occasion of first ‘Barsi’ (death anniversary) of the Margalla tragedy.
ACAG has requested all to join them at the Quran Khawani, press conference and rally on Friday 29 July 2011 at 3:00 pm at Islamabad Press Club, Garden Road, F-6/1 in Islamabad.
