President and Parliament House buildings affected by Rain
The ongoing spell of Monsoon on Monday morning proved rather too heavier in different areas of Islamabad, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa.
According to Meteorological Department, this sequence of Monsoon rains will continue for one week. MET spokesperson also predicted that this week different areas of country will receive more rains and thunders. This series of monsoon rain is now confining to Punjab, Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa and Islamabad and next two to three days this will enter Sindh and Balochistan too.
On Monday Islamabad received more than 85 millimetre rain, Lahore received 121 millimetres and other areas also received heavy rain. Due to this torrential rain the weather of Islamabad and Rawalpindi has become pleasant.
This heavy shower has also affected the President House, Parliament building and the Supreme Court building. The rainy water of three to four feet gathered at the front road of Parliament house and halted the traffic to Red Zone. Water also leaked through the roofs of President and Parliament houses.
Water has also crossed the threshold of Poly Clinic and Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) hospital. The heavy quantity of water was seen in front of the Outpatient Department (OPD) of Poly Clinic hospital.
Due to this heavy rain, the roads of the Capital presented the scene of puddles and water gathered at the roads two to four feet. This also affected the cars and other transport because the accumulated water entered them and vehicles became halted on roads. The long queues of transport were seen on different roads of the capital.
The situation of Nulla Leh in Rawalpindi is however, under control. In some places the water level has risen. The highest level of Nulla Leh water was recorded at 13 feet, according to the flood room.
The flight schedule at Islamabad Airport has also undergone disturbance due to this shower. The scheduled flights were also cancelled.
