Post-dengue Scenario;
Parents demand shortening of evening shift
Parents of the children studying in the evening shift of the schools and colleges in Islamabad being run under the supervision of Federal Directorate of Education have demanded decreasing the timing of the evening shift timings.
As fear of dengue is telling on the nerves of everyone, these parents are very much concerned about the well being and safety of their children.
As evening shift ends with the sunset approaching, the risk of exposure of these kids to dengue is many times higher as dengue carrying mosquito is said to bite near sunrise and sunset.
“We are very much concerned as three of my daughters study at the junior section of Islamabad College for Girls (ICG) from where they have to travel back home in Rawalpindi. We are teased by the very idea of FDE’s lack of decision making power. They should have acted by now,” said Mohammad Hanif talking to INFN.
Another parent, Afzal Ahmad who is also a teacher said, “I request the secretary CAAD and Director General FDE to take notice of the grave threat posed to young kids and order decreasing the timing of evening shift in all institution so that our children may reach home safely before the dengue starts playing its deadly game of death with our children.
