Hina to Open Conference on Afghan Transition

Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar will open the international conference on “Transition in Afghanistan: Post–Exit Scenarios” being held here in Islamabad on October 5-6, 2011.

It is being organized by the Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI) in collaboration with the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF), Islamabad.

Besides Pakistani scholars, political analysts from Afghanistan, Turkey, Germany, Iran, USA will discuss the situation in Afghanistan in respect of governance, internal and external security, economic development and reconstruction, ethnic issues, reconciliation with  the Taliban, re-emergence of the Northern Alliance, regional struggle for supremacy, post-exit role of the US and Pak-Afghan relations.

The conference opens at 9 a.m. at the Marriott Hotel, Islamabad.
