Kallar Kahar Tragedy:
IIR reveals gross violations of rules
The Initial Investigations Report (IIR) ordered in connection with the accident of an over-loaded school bus carrying more than 100 passengers which overturned on Motorway near Kallar Kahar on Monday night has revealed alarming facts.
The report reveals that the owners of the bus have applied for a permit to take a marriage congregation (Baraat) from Faisalabad to Sargodha. However, after getting the permit, the bus was used to take the unlucky students to Kallar Kahar for excursion that proved a ‘death trip’.
Besides this, the report has also revealed that the reason for the accident was not ‘failure of breaks’ as was initially assumed. The real reason was over-speeding and over-loading as the bus that had capacity of nearly 84 passengers was carrying more than 110 students.
According to the details, the orders have been issued against the authorities concerned who had issued permission to an overloaded school bus to move on Motorway which met an ill-fate due to rash driving, consequently killing 37 people including schoolchildren, teachers and a vice-principal who died of critical wounds.
