Poor drainage, lush green locale, lack of awareness:
Serious fear of dengue outbreak in Bhara Kahu
The residents of the backward areas like Bhara Kahu are complaining critically that the poor drainage system and the washing of vehicles on the roadside makes the water stand on the road presenting a look of pond which is a hanging threat on the head of the already distressed people.
The washing of vehicles on the roadside while spreading the flow of water to surrounding areas and the roads are also full of the water which can be easily the breeding place for the fatal disease which has already haunted the city and not going to be finished nor there is proper arrangement done by the concerned authorities to eradicating this practice. Muqoob Qasim an office going person said that every time the drivers of the cars and taxi washes their vehicles on the road leaving hosts of water on the surface of road making it difficult for the people to easily go and also increasing the risk of getting the disease easily.
The poor drainage system which has long been depicting a very bad look and causing the hazard of dengue as well as other disease which would be even more fatal then this disease which today we are facing. “There was time that people used to laugh when they hear the word ‘Bird flu’ but these days ‘men flu’ dengue fever has raised in the human beings but despite its destruction which it had made in the whole Punjab province. Even the high-ups are not free of this but despite this no control and check is being done on those who madly through water on the road while washing vehicles and can be a breeding place”, Haleem Raza said in Bhara Kahu.
“This area is also having lots of lush greenery while on the other hand presence of lots of water on the road by the unaware people, uneducated people making the life of the residents of the area in a big problem of creating a breeding place for the mosquitoes. It is already reported that mosquito develops and can easily breed in green areas where there are water as well as trees”, Kashif Ali said.
He added that there should be a proper awareness campaign started by the government to bring awareness among the uneducated and educated masses to stop such kinds of activities and also do something for the eradication of the breeding places of the mosquitoes because it can become endemic if it started to spread into other parts of the country and we are not that much good to control and handle these issues.
